VETERANS
Homeless & At-Risk Veteran Programs
If you're a veteran facing homelessness or about to lose your housing, here's exactly who to call — before anything else.
HELP RIGHT NOW
Overview
If you're reading this because you or someone you know is about to be without housing, you don't need a long explanation — you need a phone number. This page leads with that, then explains the federal programs built specifically to get veterans off the street and into stable housing fast. You don't need a DD-214 in hand to get emergency help — that can come later.

Call the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans first
877-4AID-VET (877-424-3838), 24/7. This is the fastest single routing point to every program below — start here if you're not sure where else to turn.
Ask about HUD-VASH
This program pairs a HUD housing voucher with ongoing VA case management. It's one of the most effective tools for getting a veteran into permanent housing, not just a shelter bed.
Ask about SSVF
Supportive Services for Veteran Families — the Central Texas grantee serving Williamson County — can help with rapid rehousing and stopping an eviction before it happens.
For same-day, same-hour help
The Salvation Army Williamson County Service Center and The Caring Place (both already in our Community Resources directory) offer emergency food and shelter support without an appointment.
